During the summer months we run a very popular Basic Horsemanship Course. It is a five-day course that runs from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Monday through Thursday and 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Friday. Monday through Thursday, there is one hour of mounted instruction and one hour of instruction on the ground. Students learn skills such as handling, saddling, bridling, grooming, etc. Each student is provided with an instructional manual to take home. Each student also needs to bring their own sack lunch which will be eaten at the barn, drinks will be provided by Turkey Creek Stables. The day ends with one hour of swimming, to cool off. Desserts will be provided by the pool side, guaranteed to send your child home happy. Friday is a longer day to allow for the end of the course trail ride and games and also to provide a field trip to a Veterinary Hospital to see where horses go to the doctor. The five day course is reasonably priced at $450.00. There is a non-refundable $100 deposit required to register. For those that have attended before, the increase in price is to allow for the extra hours, T-shirt, and cost to go on the Veterinary field trip. The summer courses begin the first full week of June.
